Early life & Education

Joshua grew up with his mother and 6 siblings. The family earned a living by digging for other people in the community. They also grow crops like beans and cocoyam in their small piece of land for family food. Most often, the family could only afford to eat once a day and couldn’t afford school fees for all 6 children.

Thanks to your support, Joshua has been in education with Shelo since he was 10 years old. Starting at Bunabumibi Primary School, he has always been a hard working student.  He also attended Bududa Comprehensive High School studying History, Commerce, Mathematics, Agriculture and Sciences; getting his highest grades in Geography and Chemistry.

His professional education with Path to Prosper

In 2021, Joshua was chosen to be one of the first students to be part of the new initiative with Path to Prosper. He chose to take a mechanics course at the local vocational college.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the family’s financial situation worsened and Joshua had to take on a night job.  He attended college by day and at night he worked at the local police station in order to get a little money for his family.

Joshua is back to studying full time and we are delighted that Joshua wants to upgrade his mechanics course and be part of Path To Prosper for the next two years.

“I would like to send great thanks to you and your colleagues for a great job in supporting Uganda”
